About Me:

"Let the beauty we love be what we do." rumi

I will be honest with you that I love what I do.  I love New Orleans. I love the people here. I love helping the people here. I love doing art therapy in New Orleans!  I am ever passionate for this work, and what keeps it fresh is the consistent challenge I feel in working with each unique person I meet. That's the beauty of it, as Rumi might say.  I find the layered complexities of humankind to be the beauty that I love. My hope is to help my clients re-discover that beauty underneath the suffering they feel.

In acknowledging my love for both people and the arts, I can thank Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts for my training.  Through that program, I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Therapies and was able to move forward and gain licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor and national certification as a Registered Art Therapist.  Before re-locating to practice art therapy in New Orleans, I was Assistant Clinical Residence Director at an adult psychiatric residential facility.  I also hold experience with adolescents, children, and families.

As for my theoretical orientation, I like to see it as a "found object sculpture."  I seek out, discover, study, and learn from each unique object before it becomes an element in my theoretical sculpture. It's a contained yet creative mix of humanistic psychology and relational therapy, with a strong lean towards attachment theory. I am a strong advocate for the nourishment of self-care and the importance of self-esteem.
